Anyone who wants to read the full judgement of one of the cases I have referred to - and who does not have access to one of the paid-for sites - should try BAILII, which is free. The detailed link is included in the list on this website. It does not cover older cases from years ago, but is a good way of staying up-to-date on recent decisions.

A Note on Case References
I normally use the neutral system of case referencing used by the courts themselves. There can be several journals or law reports which cover a particular case, such as the Weekly Law Reports, Housing Law Reports, or Environmental Law Reports. The reporting of older cases can be different (depending on how old!).
In my articles you will usually see the following:
- EWHC – England and Wales High CourtThis would usually be followed by (Admin) – Administrative, or (QB) – Queen’s Bench
- EWCA – England and Wales Court of Appeal
- UKUT – United Kingdom Upper Tribunal. This would usually be followed by (LC) – Lands Chamber, which deals with appeals relating to certain housing and caravan legislation.
- UKSC – United Kingdom Supreme Court
In each case the acronym is followed by the year the decision was published, and its number in that year.
